Access
to quality and affordable education is a fundamental right guaranteed by the Constitution of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan. Investing in learning and literacy means investing in human dignity, development and progress. Literacy is not about reading, writing, or learning only; rather it’s much more than that. It is about enabling and equipping people to deal with challenges of life and lead a purposeful and productive life.
Literacy & Non-Formal Basic Education Department is endeavouring to impart literacy to all marginalized segments of the society at their doorsteps through a chain of non-formal education schools to help actualize the goal of equitable quality education set under the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG-4) on Education. The department is committed to providing free basic education and skills to all irrespective of age, gender, social status, and area and will continue to work round the clock to transform Punjab into a fully literate, progressive and enlightened province.
